  • How to Keep That Glow While Stuck at Home

    March 20, 2020 3 min read 533 Comments

While trying to balance our busy, everyday lives, it can be hard to make time for self care. With all the craziness going on right now, chances are you're stuck at home. Because of this, we've put together a guide to all of our favorite self care activities. From hair and face masks to reading a good book, we know some of easiest ways to pamper yourself and how to dress for the occasion. Get ready for some much need relaxation!

    Get Cozy

Keeping a routine is an important part of staying productive and feeling like yourself. Part of a routine is getting dressed in the morning. Just because you're stuck at home, doesn't mean you have to sit around in your pj's! Choose some cute loungewear that'll keep you comfortable throughout your day. Some of our favorites are two piece sets, cozy sweaters, and fun jumpsuits! Check out our comfy loungewear collection to find your favorite look. Throw you hair in a messy bun and you're good to go! You can still look great and feel confident even when you're cooped up at home.

    DIY Spa Day

We can't think of anything more relaxing than an in home spa day! Here are some of our favorite recipes and ideas for pampering your hair and skin.

    DIY Hair Masks

    For Dry Hair:

    • 2 tablespoons of honey + 1 tablespoon of coconut oil

    For Itchy or Flaky Scalp:

    • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar + 1 tablespoon of olive oil

    For Oily Hair:

    • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar + 1 lemon

Mix ingredients well in a bowl. Wash your hair like normal, but skip the conditioner. Apply your chosen mask evenly to your scalp and comb it through your damp hair. Cover your hair with a towel or shower cap and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse out with warm water.

    DIY Honey Cinnamon Face Mask

    What You'll Need

    • Raw Organic Honey
    • Ground Cinnamon
    • Measuring Spoons
    • Small Bowl
    • Wash Cloth

Test this face mask on a small patch of your skin before fully applying to ensure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. Make sure no redness, itching, or irritation occurs.

    Instructions

    1. Add 2 tablespoons of honey into the small bowl.
    2. Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and mix until combined.
    3. Tie you hair back and apply the mixture evenly to your skin with clean hands.
    4. Let sit for a few minutes, then rinse with warm water. Pat your face dry with the wash cloth.

    Organize & Declutter

Trying to relax in a cluttered space is not ideal, not to mention that it's hard to find time in our everyday lives to organize. Cleaning up your surrounding areas will help you to fully unwind and enjoy your time spent at home. Doing tasks such at cleaning out your closet, throwing out or donating unwanted items, and dusting can help to make your home a happier and healthier environment. Check out our closet organization and spring cleaning blog posts for more ideas!

    Journal & Read

I'm sure Netflix has become your best friend, but staring at your TV or phone screen all day long can get tiring. Try reading or downloading a new audio book. You're brain will thank you!

Journaling is also a great idea! Take some time to write down your thoughts and ideas. This will also give you an opportunity to go over goals you've made for yourself and to make some new ones! There's no better form of self care than to evaluate what is important to you and to make a plan to prioratize it!

Here are some book recommendations that are at the top of our list!

    • Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso
    • In Conclusion, Don't Worry About It by Lauren Graham
    • Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
    • Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

Self care is all about what's important to you, whether that's getting dressed up, calling a friend, or watching your favorite movie. Making time for yourself is one of the most important things you can do. Don't forget to have a self care day soon so that you can stay your glowing and radiant self!

One of the most positive things I have been accomplishing is self-care. I used to play with my hair, making it thin. Now with the Rona scare, I rarely touch my hair or my face. So my face is less greasy now, too. I have used facial masks more, taken better care of eating right and taking good care of my skin.

We have stayed so busy with homeschooling our son and a 2 year old. Besides that we have painted our kids room and our bedroom along with adding some new things for organizing that was very much needed! My husband has given me an allowance to add some new pieces to my wardrobe to look fresh once I go back to work and I take forever to shop online because there is so
Much more and way better to see than if I were to go out and shop. I actually get to chill and relax and take my time picking out my new staple pieces! I have really enjoyed my time and just made sure to keep busy, we try to make it a point to at least take the kids for a walk/bike ride/husband skate sesh when its nice out, or maybe just take a ride. I’ve paid for some online education to keep myself fresh with the hair industry. I feel its very important for me to at least wash my face and MAYBE put mascara on so I don’t look so tired haha. Ive been very fortunate that my husband was one of the only employees not furloughed at his casino and that he’s able to do a lot of his work from home, so Ive had his help with the house and kids. We have always been on opposite schedules so it feels so good to have him home after a few hard years. I’m rambling but life has been great for us during this quarantine. I could write a page long list of all of the things we’ve done to stay busy! Next is potty training our two year old (we just got her out of our bed!!!)

Yes, I am struggling with the fact that many people have lost their lives to the coronavirus. I’m also eating plenty of fruits & veggies. I’m taking all my meds & extra vitamins. Though I don’t get out I still worry so I’m washing my hands often. I have to think about my husband getting out to shop for groceries & pick up medications from CVS. I pray he doesn’t get sick or have a temperature. We need to be kind, helpful, thoughtful, respectful, patient, considerate, lovable, & so on. Sticking Together We’ll Beat The Coronavirus1
