  • DIY Spa Night

    October 24, 2018 4 min read

Sometimes an in home spa night is long overdue, which is why we've put together a guide to our favorite DIY home treatments. From detoxifying face masks to yummy lip scrubs, we know some of the best and easiest ways to pamper yourself on these cold fall nights. So get some of your girl friends together and get ready for a much needed pampering.

    Create an Atmosphere

Make sure you start your night off right with a relaxing atmostphere around the house. Of course, this could be different for everyone. Some people might prefer dim lights, candles set up around the house, and peaceful music playing in the distance. Or you might want to sit back on the couch while catching up on the latest episode of the Bachelor. Either way, set aside some time and space for your spa night and make sure that it is catered to what will help you relax and enjoy your night.

    Infused Waters

Drinking water is the key to staying healthy, so of course you should be drinking tons of water at a spa night! Why not infuse your water for a nice change though, and help create a spa like feel to your in home night.

    For Immunity Add:

    • Pineapples
    • Strawberries
    • Oranges

    For Relaxation Add:

    • Raspberries
    • Pineapples
    • Sage

    Face Masks

Face masks are a spa night essential, but it's hard to find a recipe that works for everyone. So we've put together some of our favorite masks for every skin type. All you need are a few ingredients from your pantry and some time to sit and relax while the mask works it's magic!

    Moisturizing: For Dry Skin

    • 1/2 avacado
    • 1 egg white
    • 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt
    • 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice

Directions: Mix all of the ingredients together. Apply to clean skin and let sit for at least twenty minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

    Purifying: For Blemished Skin

    • 1 teaspoon of milk
    • 1 teaspoon of honey
    • 1 teaspoon of turmeric

Directions: Mix all three ingredients together. Apply to clean skin. Let sit for at least fifteen minutes before washing off with luke warm water.

    Soothing: For Sensitive Skin

    • 2 Tablespoons of honey
    • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

Directions: Mix all three ingredients together until they form a paste. Apply to a clean face. Leave on skin for at least thirty minutes. Simply wash off with warm water.

    Pro Tip:

If you really want to feel like you're at the spa, why not add some hot towels to spa night? Simply run a wash cloth under water and then wring out the towel until it is only damp. Then place it in a bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then feel free to place the towel on your freshly pampered skin!

    Lip Scrub

Lip scrubs are an amazing way to cure dry lips. They work to exfoliate your lips while then providing more moisture to them. This is also a great way to help your lipstick stay on longer and not crack as much. Here's one of our favorite recipes:

    • 1 teaspoon of honey
    • 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon or olive oil (or coconut oil)

Directions: Mix all three ingredients together until they form a paste. Gently rub a small amount on your lips for approximentaly one minute. Rinse off the warm water and then apply a lip balm.

    Whipped Body Lotion

    • 1 cup of coconut oil
    • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
    • 3-4 drops of lavender essential oil

Directions: Melt all three ingredients in a saucepan on low heat. Then place the oil into a mixing bowl and let sit in the freezer for 15 minutes. Once the mixture is chilled, whisk together the oils for about five minutes, or until it is light and fluffy. You'll want to keep the lotion in a container with a lid to keep it fresh. If kept in warmer areas, it could start to turn back into an oil. Simply place it in the freezer and then whisk again if this happens.

Spa nights don't have to be complicated, afterall, the whole point is for you to take a minute and relax. And this is going to be different for everyone. So invite your friends over, or spend the night in alone-just make sure that you truly pamper yourself, because you deserve it! What are some of your favorite things to do at a spa night?
